眼鏡店から注文しておいた予備の遠近両用眼鏡ができたという連絡がありましたので、受取に行くついでに園芸学部の研究圃場のツバキとチャノキと小山の染井氏宅のツバキのチャドクガの様子を観察してきました。旧農場本館横のチャノキ（2）には葉裏に卵塊が1個産みつけられていました。旧農場本館前（裏）のツバキからは小枝の振動でチャドクガの成虫が1頭飛び立ちましたが、逃げ足が速く写真を撮ることはできませんでした。ツバキの成虫がいた辺りの葉裏には新たに卵塊が1個産みつけられていました。チャノキもツバキも昨日はなかった卵塊ですので、どこかから成虫が飛んできて産卵したもののようです。 小山の染井氏宅のツバキもチェックしましたが、幼虫の脱皮殻は残っていましたが昨日ツバキ（2）にいた成虫はいなくなっていて、よく探してみましたが卵塊も見つかりませんでした。 チャドクガの雌成虫は卵塊を1個だけ産むのか、複数産むのかわかりませんが、今は成虫があちこち移動して寄種植物に産卵している時期のようです。

園芸学部構内の唯一残ってる小さな運動場に面した百周年記念戸定が丘ホールの横の大銀杏はまだ緑色で黄葉にはなっていません。旧正門に下る坂道には、またオオスズメバチの死骸が落ちていました。

We invited P.V. last year to give presentaion on "How US EPA reviews an application for pesticide registration" at a seminor held on March 22 at Tokyo University of Agriculture. He did a good job. I believe he is going to talk on a simillar topic for the Thai meeting. I would like to avoid overlapping of my talk with his talk as much as possible. Since there is enough time until October 30, it is not a problem for me to revise my slides to suit the interest of participants.
